Guardians of the Galaxy (Spoilers)

What happens when a kid is abducted by aliens? He gives himself the outlaw name of Star Lord, and saves the galaxy with a group of unlikely heroes like himself. I was first introduced to Guardians of the Galaxy by a story arch in one of the Avengers Comics, where they have to fight Thanos. That was a great story arch, and a nice little introduction that actually got me excited about the release of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Here's a little synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy from IMDB.com: Light years from Earth, 26 years after being abducted, Peter Quill finds himself the prime target of a manhunt after discovering an orb wanted by Ronan the Accuser.

If you haven't seen the movie yet, I'd suggest you wait to read this part until you've already seen the movie. Before I saw Guardians of the Galaxy I heard from a few critics that they considered it to be the best Marvel film made to date. When I hear something like this, it puts very high expectations in my mind about the movie. I decided to do my best to not expect anything from the movie.

The opening sequence of the interaction between Peter Quill and his mother is more heart wrenching than I'd want to admit I felt, which surprised me. Especially the part when his mother wants to hold his hand on her deathbed. After that we fast forward to adult Peter Quill, also know as Star Lord at this piont, with a nice little fun introduction of who he is present day. This part of the opening sequence really sets the tone of the comical aspect of the film, not to over hype anything, but it's so good.

I could go on and on about how each sequence was just as good as the last, and I'm going to do my best to try not to do that. Honestly it's hard to choose my personal favorite scene. I'm not saying that this is my absolute favorite, but it's up there, is the scene where you realize Drax takes everything said to him completely literal. It comes off so genuine, you can help but have a smile on your face during the entire part of that scene.

Overall Guardians of the Galaxy is a fun filled flick, with scenes that made you laugh, and others that may have even made you tear up. I heard people say that Guardians of the Galaxy is the best Marvel film to date. In my opinion it easily falls into my top 3 Marvel film which I reserve the right to change the order of at any time. I'm going to have to give Guardians of the Galaxy a 4.75 out of 5.
